From October 30 to November 6, 2020, a flotilla of warships and support ships – Navy and the city of Burgas will host the Bulgarian-Romanian mine action exercise “Poseidon 2020”.
The exercise has been held annually since 2002, and is hosted on a rotating basis by the Navy of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of Romania.
“Poseidon 2020” is aimed at improving the level of training of Navy personnel in planning and conducting mine action in a coalition format. The same is planned and will be managed in accordance with NATO standards and procedures and will be conducted in the territorial sea and the adjacent area of the Republic of Bulgaria in landfills, which have been announced in a timely manner.
Ships from the navies of Bulgaria, Romania, Greece, Turkey, Italy, Spain and France will take part in the exercise. The ships are part of NATO’s Second Permanent Mine Action Group in the Mediterranean (SNMCMG2). The headquarters for control of the exercise will be deployed at the Burgas Base Station.
